How to Set up & Create a Crystal Grid Series
I am curious about Crystals
and I am not sure how to get started
That is one of the most common messages I receive. There is a lot of information on this site, and on many others. But I know that with anything new a lot of information can be daunting! If you know someone that told you about her crystal grids, or you’ve happened to read something about crystals having something called metaphysical properties, you may be curious, but not sure if you’re up for reading pages and pages of information. Maybe you’d like to just dip a toe in, but not jump all the way in, if you know what I mean. I’m not great at explaining things “in a nutshell”, but I’ll give it a shot 🙂
For centuries, leading all the way up to modern times, many civilizations and ancient peoples have believed that not only do crystals have energy, which is true of every solid object on Earth, but they have a special energy or vibration. An energy that we can harness if we attune to it. It is believed by many people that crystals bring positive energy into a space or to a person, even if that person isn’t aware of it, or even believes it can be true. Each crystal or stone (terms which are used interchangeably) has energy, but some are more attuned to different properties than others, and these are called metaphysical properties. For instance, you may use any one of many types of crystals for bringing love into your life, but you would choose from a different group of crystals to help with overcoming a bad habit.
Wow, that wasn’t really a nutshell, was it? It was a Debbie nutshell. So I’ll get to the point of this page now. If you are curious, and want to just start with something simple I’ll lay out a few ideas for you, and you can take it from there 🙂 It’s as simple as buying a bamboo plant for a new home, rubbing a lucky penny, wearing a copper bracelet (for arthritis), or carrying a good luck charm.
- You can start with one crystal to bring positive energy (although all energy is pretty much neutral, it’s our perception of that energy and how it makes us feel that can give it a sense of positive or negative) into your space. It can be as small as a tumbled stone, or as big as the most beautiful amethyst cluster. A larger stone or crystal will of course give off more energy than a smaller one. I would recommend choosing one that has a metaphysical property you are interested in, but you can start with one small clear quartz tumbled stone. Take it home, admire it’s beauty, focus on it for a moment and then just carry it with you, or place it somewhere in your space.
- If you want to do something a bit more involved than starting with one crystal, start with three or four or five to create a crystal grid. A crystal grid is simply crystals arranged in a geometric pattern. A crystal grid is considered a powerful tool because it creates a connection or union of all the crystals energies. Take a little bit of time, and think of something that you need more of in your life. Calm, joy, dream recall, or abundance. There are many resources on the internet, and books with descriptions of crystals and their metaphysical properties. You would have your choice of many crystals to choose from. Choose whichever crystals that “call to” or appeal to you. Carry them with you, or place them in a circle in a place of your choosing.
If you want to go further, and choose crystals for a specific outcome, I will suggest a few combinations below using some of the more easily acquired crystals. You create a crystal grid by placing your crystals in a geometric pattern. You place them with intent, meaning you are focused on your desired outcome. You can use any combinations of the crystals that are recommended, place them in a circle, and while doing so affirm your intent by saying something such as “I am open to having a loving relationship”, or “I have abundance in my life”.
You can start with any amount of crystals you like, but I would suggest that 5 to 7 crystals is a good number to start with. So choosing 1 each of at least 5 of the crystals recommended for any of the crystal grids listed below would give you a good mix. Try placing one crystal in the center, and then place the rest of the crystals in a circle around the center stone. Finally, I would choose a clear quartz crystal for the center, but you can choose another crystal if you feel that would be better for your personal grid. You can think of clear quartz as a nice “general purpose” crystal. After you set up your crystals, take a few moments, think of your desired outcome, and say your Affirmation. You can write down your affirmation and place it near the crystal grid, or carry it with you. And that is my getting started in a nutshell – at least my attempt at a “nutshell” version 🙂
